Finally some other car items (click for larger pictures);
Above (left): Grass track racing - The car belongs to one of Tim (my mate) mates who competes in nationwide grass-track racing events. This particular race was held in a field near Telford in mid '95. Tims mate came in last position because (according to him), he had the wrong tyres on. Grass track racing is a great laugh to watch; go and see an event of you can. Right: Another nail of a car. My first one! It's a VW polo L and I thought it was completely brilliant (as you always do with your first car). In actual fact it was 895cc and thus totally unable to get up hills or go above 80mph. It also used up more oil than petrol, leaked really badly in the back and the battery went flat every week. It did have extra spotlights however and a sports steering wheel.
Above left: Work colleague Graham Andrews, whizzes around a section of the course during the Severn valley rally, Wales with Bob Coates at the wheel. Note: I took this photo with one of those Konica chuck-a-way cameras, so as you can see they aren't that bad....if you've got plenty of sun. Right: Recommended mode of transport for trans-USA travel - Jeep Wrangler 4 litre. This particular model belongs to my mate Phil Stokes who used to live in Las Vegas. We used it to do 3,000 miles around Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, South Dakota and Colorado in '95 - that was some trip!
